A mfs+Drew joint venture project.
The clients had a specific vision: to build a home that was eco, contemporary, and unique on an incredibly dramatic site at the top of a mountain with endless views over the farmlands below.
The client requirement was for a single-story residence that was sensitive to its location and could withstand the area's harsh weather and wind, as well as being completely off-grid and secure (lock-up-and-go).
The design exemplifies the brief's ethos, which is modernist, minimalist, simple, and modest, and is profoundly rooted in the site and location. We accomplished this by using a basic material palette of steel, concrete, and glass, allowing us to design a structure that is both strong and visually permeable.. The home's design focuses on an important indoor-outdoor connection and maximizes the stunning views of the surrounding landscape from every room, with multiple windows and sliding doors. This project is not just a building; it is a seamless integration of minimalist design with the natural environment.
